The Arak heavy water reactor, officially known as the Khondab Heavy Water Research Reactor, is a nuclear reactor under construction in central Iran. The facility has been targeted by Israeli airstrikes aimed at disabling the reactor's core seal to prevent plutonium production for nuclear weapons. The reactor was required to be disabled under the 2015 nuclear agreement, but Iran has reportedly obtained duplicate piping to rebuild the core. Satellite images show damage to the domed roof of the facility caused by the strike, with no nuclear material present during the attack.
