It is inspired by Africa's Great Green Wall project and aims to combat land degradation and the eastward spread of the Thar desert by creating a green belt from Porbandar to Panipat along the Aravalli range. The afforestation effort will restore degraded land, block desert dust, enhance biodiversity, and improve ecosystem services like carbon sequestration, wildlife habitat, and water quality. |
