Description

The Fayard shipyard in Denmark is the last EU facility capable of maintaining specialized Russian Arc7 icebreaker LNG tankers. These tankers transport Russian LNG from Siberia and are critical for Russia's Arctic gas exports. The shipyard services these vessels to ensure maritime safety and environmental protection, with up to six vessels expected to require servicing in summer 2026. However, over 100 European lawmakers have urged the shipyard to stop servicing these tankers to support an upcoming EU embargo on Russian LNG shipping services starting January 2027.
