ArcelorMittal Clean Energy Projects in India

ArcelorMittal plans to invest about $0.9 billion to set up three new clean energy projects in India, which will double its renewable energy capacity in the country to 2 gigawatts (GW). The projects will add a combined 1 GW of nominal solar and wind energy capacity across Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. The power generated will be supplied to AMNS India, a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel. The projects include a 36 MW solar plant in Amravati, Maharashtra by mid-2027, a 400 MW solar project with 500 MWh battery storage in Bikaner, Rajasthan by mid-2028, and an integrated renewable energy facility in Bachau, Gujarat with 250 MW wind, 300 MW solar, and 300 MWh battery storage by mid-2028. AMNS India is also developing a 550 MW renewable energy project in Gujarat. The initial 1-GW renewable energy project has already begun supplying power to AMNS India earlier in 2025.
