The aim of the project ’’Skärgårdssmak – handicrafts’’ was to, through a carefully balanced combination of marketing- and competence- raising measures, establish sustainable conditions for the archipelago’s industry of handicrafts. The goal was to increase the turnover for existing craftsmen and at the same time create space for new craftsmen and artists. The quality of the archipelago handicrafts was conveyed by the Skärgårdssmak trademark. Thanks to the project, the handicrafts of the region’s today stand for quality, variety and innovation and the archipelago has a comparatively large number of active craftsmen. The craftsmen’s’ products are also appreciated for their genuinity, the local production and the local raw materials. This all contributes with valuable synergy effects, especially for tourism.
