Description
Description | AWARE is a cultural project led by 3 entities working on architecture: the Foundation of the Order of Architects in Milan – Italy (FOAMI), the Estonian Association of Architects in Tallin – Estonia (EAA), the Museum of Architecture and Design in Ljubljana – Slovenia (MAO). The proposal deepens and expands the research and work carried out over the past decades by the partners. At a European level, the proposal seeks to involve cities that either share similarities and differences in terms of architectural and cultural heritage, as well as geographic, political, and social dynamics. The project will develop some cultural experiences with different formats that can re-read spaces and architectures in selected neighbourhoods in Milan, Tallinn and Ljubljana, involving young architects, cultural operators and residents. The project will present new narratives and interpretations of urban and social spaces, supporting the understanding of transformations, enhancing the value of modern and contemporary architectural heritage, and encouraging a sense of belonging to places. At the same time, the itineraries will also take the form of a digital product, leaving a tangible legacy of the experience. A multidisciplinary lens will be used combining various fields - architecture, culture, and sociology - as well as different forms of expression - including architectural, creative, and popular languages. The project wants to represent a contribution to the search for identity and knowledge of the places we inhabit and a way to a compensate for a general lack of awareness of the city's architectural and cultural heritage, as well as a testimony of the possible role of the architect in society. The proposal aims at introducing innovation in the social and architectural fields through the international exposure of young architects and creating a pilot experience where the new generation of architects takes centre stage in re-exploring the relationship between places and architecture. |
