Description

This funding announcement is not a request for applications. This is a Notice of Intent (NOI)to provide public notice of the National Park Service intention to fund the following project activities without competition. OVERVIEW - The Creole Heritage Foundation, as fiscal agent for the Creole Heritage Center of Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and the Creole Heritage Center itself was established to support studies in and documentation of Creole history, genealogy, culture, anthropology, ethnography, folk life, and Creole studies and to share the results of that research with Creole people and the general public through publications, conferences, and the internet. This Project will digitize recorded and videotaped Creole community meetings and individual oral interviews from fluent Creole speakers, language experts, archival specialists and cultural consultants in accordance with international standards and best practice recommendations for linguistic documentation. The Project will archive and house them in a secure repository at Northwestern State University of Louisiana and make them accessible to indigenous people, researchers and interested laypersons worldwide.
