The Arctic LNG 2 project is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant located on the Gydan Peninsula in Western Siberia, Russia. It involves the production and shipment of LNG, with cargoes being transported via ice-class LNG carriers such as the Buran. The project has faced operational challenges due to advancing Arctic ice, which has prevented LNG carriers from loading cargo at times. Despite U.S. sanctions on the project and its vessels, shipments have resumed, particularly to LNG import terminals in China.
