Arena Roof and Changeroom Project

The project will expand the use of the outdoor ice rink by adding a roof, washrooms, and bleachers. As the primary outdoor location for group activities, the roof will help ensure it can be used on a year-round basis despite the weather. Ball hockey in the summer and ice hockey in the winter are the main uses; however, the rink is also used for gatherings and events. The use of the existing outdoor rink is impacted by inclement weather. The addition of a roof structure will provide coverage so that outdoor events can occur year-round. Changeroom and a bleacher will also improve rink use. This small First Nation is located 105 km west of Williams Lake, off Highway 20, and has very limited recreation opportunities for its community. A community health survey revealed the importance of the arena to community well-being and the need for improvements. The project works will include: - addition of a roof structure over the ice rink; - construction of change room; - site preparation; and, - related works.
