Argentina Government Shutdown Mechanism Reform

planned

The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, is proposing a legislative reform to introduce a government shutdown mechanism similar to that of the United States. This mechanism would halt public spending when budget appropriations run out or expire, effectively suspending government activities without an approved budget. The reform is part of a broader package including Central Bank statute reform to guarantee its independence and prohibit currency issuance to finance the treasury.
