Description | US battery cell manufacturer American Battery Factory Inc (ABF) has secured off-take agreements for more than 4.5 GWh of output from its planned gigafactory in Tucson, Arizona. The agreements cover the majority of the plant's initial expected capacity of about 5.5 GWh for at least the first five years of operations. The plant will include the company's headquarters, a 0.5 GWh research and development centre, and approximately 5 GWh of main manufacturing lines producing 314Ah lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells. The project is a USD 1.2 billion investment and is expected to begin production in late 2027 and reach full capacity in 2028. |
