Description | The Arkansas Valley Conduit (AVC) is a 130-mile pipeline project designed to carry clean water from the Pueblo Reservoir to 50,000 residents on Colorado's eastern plains. The project aims to provide safe drinking water to rural communities whose groundwater is contaminated with salt, radioactive waste, and harmful chemicals. The project broke ground in 2023 and has received $613 million in federal funds towards a total estimated cost of $1.3 billion. A bill to extend repayment periods and eliminate interest payments for local municipalities was vetoed by President Donald Trump in December 2025. |
