Description

Description

Aroland First Nation #242 has developed its wastewater and sewage infrastructure back in the 1990’s when our first community housing developments were built. Our community has since grown in population and number of homes etc. Our wastewater sewage lagoon is now at capacity due to a number of issues including population growth, new housing developments and new vegetation growing within the lagoon. The community also has a new housing development starting in the Spring of 2017 which will add a further 6 new units into our community housing portfolio. The community has also been allocated 4 new housing lots to build more new units within the next 4 years which will put our community sewage lagoons in danger of being at capacity. Our project consists of remediation of the existing lagoons to deal with issues of new vegetation as well as a removal of solid materials that are filling our lagoon to capacity. Successful completion of this project will ensure that untreated wastewater does not enter the environment and negatively impact surrounding communities. The removal works are capitalized as they extend the life of the asset.
