The German-Danish border region, where many small and medium-sized enterprises are located, faces challenges in terms of the use of digital technologies, automation and sustainability. Some of these companies are not used to working with technology, and it can be difficult and expensive for them to make changes to become more sustainable and digital. To help these companies, a project has been set up to promote innovation and digitalisation, boost economic growth and increase the region’s competitiveness. The project promotes collaboration between universities and companies, where students help develop innovative ideas for these companies. Artemis will identify the needs of 30 companies and work with them on initiatives that will improve their innovation capacity and help them become more sustainable. Both sides of the border will be involved and a permanent cross-border network will be established to support innovation and the improvement of intercultural relations. This project focuses on the practical transfer of knowledge from universities to companies. Groups of students from different disciplines will work together to develop solutions to specific challenges faced by these companies. The project will create new opportunities for cooperation and knowledge exchange across borders, thus contributing to increasing the region’s competitiveness. The following results shall be sought: an overall written concept for the project’s initiatives (composed of regional companies and student teams to exploit a previously undetected innovation potential). 2-4 conducted pilot initiatives (cooperation between companies and students) with photo, profile and podcasts/videos/blog articles. 30 implemented project initiatives with specific solutions for the participating companies (SMEs), which thus constitute learning experiences for students (business-student collaboration) with photo and profile.
