ARTISTIC ECOLOGIES: NEW COMPASSES, TOOLS AND ALLIANCES? ARTECO is a two-year collaborative project of three art and educational institutions: What, How & for Whom/WHW (Croatia) engaged with an independent art educational program WHW Akademija, an international artist residency programme, Rijksakademie (The Netherlands), and Neue Nachbarschaft/Moabit (Germany), an independent association engaged with social inclusion through community educational program - Moabit Mountain College. ARTECO reflects on the global ecological crisis and its social roots producing critical knowledge about challenges Europe is facing today. It includes a rich programme of art residencies, seminars, lectures and workshops, exhibitions, an international conference, a radio podcast and a web platform. Activities will focus on art, ecology and social inclusion to promote new eco-social alliances. The project will be implemented through three thematic threads: 1) Artistic Ecologies, 2) Rooted Communities 3) Collective Learning and Education in Culture. ARTECO focuses on the priorities related to social inclusion and sustainability by fostering existing, and creating new communities, through socially and ecologically engaged artistic production, and educational programmes that include vulnerable groups. It connects emerging artists and organisations invested in eco-social issues to advocate for transformation. By creating bridges between art and marginalized communities, it positions concepts of care at the centre of art educational practices. By stimulating intercultural dialogue, the project connects cultural workers and artists to NGO human rights, ecology and feminist associations. Advocating for the social and environmental transformation, the project rethinks collective approach to resources in order to produce new imageries and alliances based on inclusiveness and sustainability.
