Description | The ongoing construction of Arusha Stadium in Arusha, Tanzania, has seen its cost surge from an initial estimate of Sh187 billion to Sh338.54 billion. The increase is due to upgrades required to meet international football standards for hosting major tournaments such as the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) and potentially the FIFA World Cup. The stadium must comply with CAF Category 4 standards, including high-quality playing surfaces, modern dressing rooms, enhanced safety and security standards, advanced floodlighting, reliable backup power, and fully equipped VIP and media facilities. The project is expected to be completed in July 2026 and aims to position Tanzania as a competitive destination for international sporting events. |
