Description
Description | ASA (“the Company” or “the Group”) is a vertically integrated chicken and port meat producer that currently produces hatching eggs, day-old chicks, pork and chicken meat and industrialized products for sale in the domestic market. The Group operates 2 slaughterhouse facilities in the Federal District, 1 in the state of Goias and two in the State of Tocantins, out of which one is currently not operating. In the aftermath of the 2008 crisis, Banco da Amazonia (a strong regional player) cut financing lines for the integrated farmers in the State which caused lack of sufficient broiler supply to justify operating the plant and required the Group to interrupt operations in 2010. Banco da Amazonia resumed financing the outgrowers at the end of 2011. The Project will involve providing the Company with financing to (i) invest in animal capex in order to increase day-old chicks production to support increase of broilers supply for processing in its existing slaughterhouse facilities; (ii) resume operations in its currently closed facility in Tocantins, thus increasing total processing capacity by more than 50%; (iii) provide sufficient working capital related to the investments; and (iv) refinance existing short term debt to improve liquidity. |
