Description | The Ashoknagar Oil Field project involves the extraction of petroleum reserves confirmed by ONGC to be worth at least ₹45,000 crore. The field contains more than 240 million barrels of petroleum and significant gas reserves, recognized as the first oil field in the Bengal Basin. The project aims to develop petroleum refinery hubs, gas distribution hubs, power plants, and associated industries such as chemical manufacturing, ceramic, steel, and fertilizer plants. It also includes infrastructure for PNG, CNG, and industrial gas distribution across South Bengal, creating large-scale employment opportunities in drilling, pipeline installation, refinery operations, logistics, engineering, and service industries. |
