Description | The 2014 Asia-Pacific Solar Research Conference was held on the 8 – 10 Dec 2014 at the Colombo Theatres, University of New South Wales, Sydney. It incorporated the following:Annual Research Review for the Australian PV Institute (including IEA PVPS) 9th Aseanian Conference on Dye-Sensitized and Organic Solar CellsCRC for Low Carbon Living and IEA Solar Heating & Cooling ProgramAnnual Solar Thermal Electricity Research Review for AUSTELAThe A-P Solar Research Conference gave specialists the platform to share knowledge of solar related technologies. Areas as diverse ascutting edge research into perovskites, best practice in solar heating, field experience in end-of-grid PV-Diesel hybrid deployment andthe outcomes of Australia’s engagement in the International Energy Agency PVPS and SHC programs, covering policy, regulations and barriersthe ARENA industry-research panel that gave industry and research participants an opportunity to network and identify key drivers and opportunities for collaborationThe presentation and publication of leading-edge research in technology development and policy is critical to the continued support of the public, research funding agencies and public policy development, including removal of barriers to uptake.Significantly, the A-P Solar Research Conference was not focussed on product marketing, as is the case for other solar conferences in Australia. Rather, it focussed on the research itself, and the future prospects of solar technologies and markets. The conference also provided a special Solar Student poster & networking event to bring together all students in the Region working on solar research. Papers accepted for all streams were eligible for peer review.Highlights of the programKeynote addresses from internationally recognised expertsARENA Industry/Research PanelWal Read Memorial Prize for the best Student Paper and best Student Poster, awarded by the Australian Solar CouncilOpportunities for networking activitiesPoster networking eventConference Dinner on the Sydney HarbourCelebration of Prof. Martin Green’s 40 years of PV research at UNSW |
