Information Public Works Roads Department, Government of Assam has come up with Assam Bridge Project II - Palashbari-Sualkuchi with a ticket size of 3197.2 INR Crores. This project in Roads & Bridges sub-sector involves The current status of the project is DPR/Feasibility Study and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The project will facilitate to expand the rapidly growing city of Guwahati towards North Bank, which otherwise is constrained by river Brahmaputra and Meghalaya state boundary. It will cut down travel time for daily commuters of Guwahati from the adjoining districts of Nalbari , Barpeta and other nearby districts. The bridge will provide direct connectivity between Guwahati International Airport and Internationally renowned silk town of Assam, Sualkuchi which is also known as Manchester of Assam. It will provide an alternative route to the existing bridges between Guwahati and rest of the country in the event of any emergency or disaster.
