Objectives - to enhance the implementation of the presumption of innocence by identifying factors affecting the social status of suspects and accused, analysing their impact, and producing methodology and guidelines for assessing the risk of de-socialisation Activities - Management: research and management committee, planning and progress meetings - Factors affecting the social status of suspects and accused: country reviews, literature review, identification of promising practices, development of report, validation and verification of results - Assessment of the risk of de-socialisation of suspects and accused: review of existing methodologies, development of risk assessment methodology, validation and verification of results - Training and capacity building: development of handbook, training - Dissemination: compilation of contact database of stakeholders, project logo, dissemination of electronic newsletter, internet publicity, organisation of international conference Type and number of persons benefiting from the project - 1,500 criminal justice authorities (judges, prosecutors and police officers) - 500 lawyers - 100 academics - 400 NGOs Expected results - improved capacity of criminal justice authorities to assess the consequences of proceedings on suspects and accused - improved implementation of the presumption of innocence as laid down in Directive (EU) 2016/343 Type and number of outputs to be produced - Management: 1 research and management committee, 4 meetings, 1 work plan, 4 meeting minutes - Factors affecting the social status of suspects and accused: 4 country reports, 1 literature review report, 1 report, 1 validation and verification workshop - Assessment of the risk of de-socialisation of suspects and accused: 1 background paper, 1 risk assessment methodology, 1 validation and verification workshop - Training and capacity building: 1 handbook, 8 training seminars - Dissemination: 1 contact database, 5 newsletters, 1 conference, 1 FB profile
