Assessment, Construction and Implementation of a Drinking Water System Dead-End Looping Strategy in the Central Pressure Zone

Description
Description | The Town has 54 dead ends within the drinking water system impacting approximately 3000 customers. The Town also had dead end areas between system pressure zones and requires the ability to move water between pressure zones to reduce water age and non-revenue water from flushing and maintenance activities. This project will construct an automated bypass system at each isolated boundary valve and looping of dead end systems where feasible. This will require assessment, engineering and design to eliminate the critical dead end in the north section of the drinking water system central pressure zone. The intent of the project is to reduce water age, improve water hydraulics and increase chlorine residual in a section of the system that has been prone to adverse water quality, increased flushing, increased non-revenue water, resource time and increased reporting to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and the Ministry of Health. |
