The proposed investment is to provide financing to the Company in the form of an A loan to Astarta (“Astarta” or the “Company”), a leading primary agriculture producer in Ukraine to support the (i) construction of the soybean crushing facility to process locally grown soybeans into meal for the local market and oil, potentially for export, (ii) construction of the biogas facility, (iii) expansion of agricultural land, (iv) purchase of supporting farm machinery, storage and dairy infrastructure to increase production volumes of crops and (iv) further modernization of sugar production and storage (the “Project”).Astarta is an integrated agricultural company with strategic focus on the sugar manufacturing and sugar by-products from eight sugar plants in operation and sales, cultivation and sale of grains and oilseeds. Also, the Company produces milk.IFC may be able to contribute advisory services related to energy efficiency and cleaner production concerning opportunity for manufacturing bio-plastic from sugar molasses and introduction of “fieldlook project”, satellite based instrument for precision agriculture of sugar beet.
