Description

Description

The action supports AIDA, the Asylum Information Database, a tool for gathering and analysis of information on national asylum systems in Europe, covering both legislation and practice. The output of the action is the production of high quality, comparative information on asylum systems in 23 European countries, published in an accessible, searchable open-source database. The main outcome will be improved implementation of EU asylum law, leading to the impact: the improvement of asylum policies and practices in Europe and consequently an improvement in the situation of asylum seekers. This is achieved by AIDA through providing all relevant actors with the tools and information to support implementation, advocacy and litigation, both at national and European levels. The action forms a specific part of broader ECRE research and documentation to develop and maintain the Asylum Information Database (AIDA). It strengthens AIDA through the maintaining the established activities, namely quality assurance, review and production of consistent and comparable analysis for all the countries in the database; support and networking for national experts; fact-finding visits; and extensive extraction and dissemination of information and analysis from the database. The reliable, up-to-date and quality information supports the work of EU institutions and agencies, legal practitioners, courts, civil society, academics and the media.
