Description
Description | In December 2006, Abengoa S.A. was awarded in a competitive bidding process organized by the regulatory agency ANEEL the 30-year contract to build and operate a 85 km transmission line located in the states of Parana and Santa Catarina (Bateias-Curitiba and Canoinhas-Sao Mateus). Besides Abengoa S.A., four other companies took part in the contest: CME - CONSTRUCAO E MANUTENCAO ELECTROMECANICA S.A.; COPEL TRANSMISSAO S.A.; ISA - INTERCONEXION ELECTRICA S.A. E.S.P.; and CONSORCIO CABURE. The bidding criteria set by ANEEL was the lowest required annual revenue. Abengoa presented the lowest offer, a total value of US$ 5.3 million (BRL 11.5 million), 42.35% below the ceiling set by the regulatory agency. The contract was signed in June 2007, and the sponsors created the company ATE IV - São Mateus Transmissora de Energia S.A. to lead the project during the 30-year contract period. The sponsor committed US$ 78.2 million (BRL 156.4 million) in the transmission line. Financial closure was achieved in December 2009, when the sponsor was granted a US $ 40 million (BRL 80.1 million) loan from BNDES. The remaining cost was set to be financed with the sponsors’ internal resources. |
