Description

Description

The project will rehabilitate five (5) sewage pumping stations and one (1) sewage treatment plant in Atikokan, Ontario. The work will replace motorized valves and new flow meters at five (5) pumping stations as well as update mechanical and electrical systems along with control programming to improve monitoring and operations. In addition, three (3) blowers and the bubble aeration system in the aeration and sludge tanks at the sewage treatment plant will be replaced. The project will reduce operation and maintenance costs by decreasing energy consumption, improve the capacity to treat and manage wastewater, and reduce the frequency and severity of sewage back-ups in basements and the release of untreated overflows into the Atikokan River during heavy wet weather.
