Description

Atlanta Stadium, also known as Mercedes-Benz Stadium, is an ultra-modern indoor arena in Atlanta, Georgia. It opened in 2018, replacing the Georgia Dome, with construction costs of approximately $1.6 billion. The stadium is home to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and MLS's Atlanta United. For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the stadium will be referred to as Atlanta Stadium but will retain the Mercedes-Benz logo on its roof due to the risk of damage to the retractable roof if covered. The stadium features a synthetic turf pitch that will be replaced by natural grass for the World Cup, with FIFA installing its own pitch in May 2026. The stadium can hold just under 80,000 spectators and will host eight World Cup matches. The surrounding area is undergoing a $5 billion redevelopment project called Centennial Yards, which includes an augmented-reality experience, concert venue, hotels, restaurants, and shopping.
