Description | The Atlantic Yards project, also known as Pacific Park, is a long-stalled redevelopment initiative in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, aiming to create thousands of new apartments near Barclays Center. Originally proposed in 2003 to build over 6,400 apartments including affordable units, the project has seen only half of the housing materialize over two decades. A new development team, Brooklyn Ascending Land Co., led by LCOR and Cirrus Real Estate Partners, proposes to build 9,000 apartments with taller buildings to create more public open space. The project includes building over LIRR tracks and redevelopment of parcels near Flatbush Avenue. |
