ATMS: REPLACEMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF EDP EQUIPMENT - 2006

This project covers the costs of upgrades and maintenance of all Electronic Data Processing (EDP) equipment in the Transportation Management Center (TMC), the Transportation Control Centers (TCCs) and hub buildings in the field. For Fiscal Year 2006, continuing efforts will be taken for improving the redundancy and stability of the system. Currently, Navigator is very centered within the TMC. Total power failures or building failures could render the entire system useless in the current setup. In Fiscal Year 2006, we will continue to decentralize much of the system's key servers, employing remote server locations such as existing hubs and supplementary hubs. By doing this, the Navigator system, and public website, will stay online during critical outages at the TMC. In addition to redundancy improvements, we will make critical updates to some of the oldest equipment in the Main Operations Center of the TMC, where original issue 1996 equipment is still in place.
