ATMS: SURVEILLANCE AND CMS, ENHANCEMENT EXISTING SYSTEM

This project is a Fast Forward project designed to "fill in the gaps" of ITS coverage on some of the earliest phases of Navigator installations (those that were installed before the Olympics in 1996). There are several blind spots where cameras are not located, and also places along the freeways where message signs (CMS) are needed, but were not installed initially. This project will install 6 new 3 x 15 CMS on various freeways around metro Atlanta. It will also install approximately 15 new CCTV cameras. Most of the new cameras will be installed on existing poles. However, one new pole will be required. The project will include the installation of the new devices as well as the complete hook-up into the Navigator system. Existing communications (fiber optic cable) will be used to communicate from TMC to the new devices. The latest GDOT specs for ITS will be used.
