Auckland Prison's maximum security wing is to be completely rebuilt using a design, build, finance and maintain model under a Public Private Partnership (PPP).The Project is scheduled to open in mid-2017.The Auckland Prison PPP is a Design, Build, Finance and Maintain (DBFM) contract and is unique in that it also includes the maintenance of an existing facility. The Auckland Prison PPP contract involves:The design, construction, finance and maintenance for 25 years of a new maximum security facility;The maintenance of the existing Auckland Prison West Facility for approximately 27 years (concurrent with the start of construction of the new facility); andCustodial operations are not included in the contract and both facilities will continue to be operated by Corrections.
