The Audiovisual Connect LAB project aims to develop film education and audience development for European film among young audiences aged 15-19 through building film literacy, creating and testing methodologies and developing tools for measurement and evaluation. The project responds to the lack of a shared framework for film literacy in Europe and the need to anchor it in cultural and educational strategies. The basic structure of the project is a network of eight national LABs - research and education centres (in existing organisations) linking cultural organisations, schools, teachers and students. The LABs act as an environment for testing film education methodologies, collecting data, evaluating approaches and developing transferable models. The spread of LABs in different regions allows for the comparison of national specificities and promotes the sharing of know-how. At the core of the activities are project days - an intensive format combining European film viewing, analysis, creative work, peer-to-peer access and intergenerational dialogue. Students are not only participants but active co-creators - they participate in dramaturgy, leading workshops and transferring film literacy to other groups, including children and seniors. The results and methodologies will be shared on an open digital platform. Two international symposia will strengthen the advocacy impact and support the strategic embedding of film literacy in European policies. The project brings together research, education, participation and advocacy to strengthen the young generation's relationship with European cinema and culture.
