Augmented Capability for High End Soldiers

ACHILE aims to develop highly innovative solutions in view of the Next Generation Dismounted Soldier System by specifying, designing and demonstrating the benefits of open system architecture based on GOSSRA and promising disruptive technologies improving survivability, sustainability, mobility, lethality, observation. The proposed system concept proposed for ACHILE is structured around four main specific capability domains: Soldier Core, Soldier Extension to address capabilities at soldier level, and Team Core and Team Extension to address networking capabilities at the team level. The project will be implemented in 12 WPS and in two phases, thfirst one until the CDR gate, the second ending with demonstration and dissemination process. The project will study and harmonize concepts of operations, use cases and user needs, and operational requirements; study and deliver harmonized system requirements and standardized open architecture soldier system; design advanced soldier system and enhanced capability suites at soldier core and soldier extension levels, and provide their evaluation through PoC; design the networking capabilities at team core and team extension levels and evaluate them through PoCs; to select and to prototype the most relevant and promising capabilities based on the PoCs; test selected PoCs and prototypes; provide full-size demonstrators formed out of prototypes and PoCs; test them in a representative operational environment and study ways of dissemination; update GOSSRA architecture and provide Technology Roadmaps for further development. ACHILE brings together entities from 9 EU countries and 1 Associated country (Norway), including major players in soldier systems innovations, innovative SMEs and Mid-caps as well as research institutes and universities. The consortium, covering the whole value chain, will offer competitive solutions to address soldier systems market and contribute to the further integration of EU defense industry and autonomy.
