The proposed investment comprises a Romanian greenfield portfolio of five standalone battery energy storage systems (“BESS”) being developed by Aukera BV, designed to provide two-hour storage and grid-balancing services across four key nodes in the country’s North-East and South-East (“Project”). The Project will have a total capacity of up to 0.95 GW / 1.9 GWh and will be financed in two stages: -          Stage I: Short-term construction bridge financing for two BESS assets in the same location totalling 250 MW; and-          Stage II: Long-term financing of three BESS assets in three different locations totalling up to 700 MW, along with the refinancing of Stage I assets. By adding flexible capacity where renewable penetration and price volatility are rising, the Project supports Romania’s grid reliability, energy security, and decarbonization trajectory, whilst reducing price volatility.
