Information South Central Railway [SCR] - II has come up with AURANGABAD-ANKAI - DOUBLING PROJECT 98.25 Km with a ticket size of 960.64 INR Crores. This project in Railway Track sub-sector involves The current status of the project is - and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The proposed doubling between Aurangabad Ankai will be an alternate route to reach to the long destinations like Mumbai New Delhi Amritsar from Bangalore Hyderabad Nizamabad etc as most of the long distance passenger and express trains are passing on this route. Present Line Capacity is 114 and projected to be 143 in 2028 on completion of project. Proposed doubling will improve Goods and Passenger traffic on this single line. Also there is huge untapped potential of Freight Traffic from the nearby Industrial Clusters Proposed doubling is on very important section having Road connectivity with State and National Highways running parallel to Two Economic Corridors connecting Mumbai Igatpuri Nashik Aurangabad Badnera and Pune Ahmednagar Aurangabad Jalna Nanded. A new Dry Port is being setup by IPRCL at Dinagaon which is 55 Km from Aurangabad. This will be operational in December 2022. Railway is also planning to develop Goods shed at same station to cater growing demand of Steel Industry available nearby. Railway is planning to provide Two More Goods loading/unloading lines at Dinagaon to capture the incoming raw material and outgoing finished product from the Steel Industry located in that area. The incoming material will be coming via Manmad Aurangabad section and this doubling is very crucial for augmenting this goods traffic.
