Austin Convention Center Replacement Project

The project involves the demolition of the existing Austin Convention Center and construction of a substantially larger replacement facility. The project is largely bond-financed with an estimated cost of $1.6 billion. The financing includes up to $650 million of revenue bonds, with $525 million in senior lien special tax revenue bonds and $125 million in junior lien bonds. The bonds are backed by revenue from the city's hotel occupancy taxes and incremental state tax revenue generated within a project finance zone established in 2024.
