Description | Project Connect is a multibillion-dollar light rail project in Austin, Texas, initially approved by voters in 2020 as a 20-mile electric urban rail system with 26 stops, including a downtown tunnel and airport connection. The project cost has increased from $5.8 billion to $8.2 billion for the light rail alone, with the total light rail component ballooning to $10.3 billion. Construction was planned to start in late 2024, with a projected completion no earlier than 2033.
