Description
Description | This proposal introduces an interdisciplinary teaching module (law, politics and policy) on key aspects of global governance from comparative Australia-EU perspectives. In particular, it explores modes of bilateral cooperation through the EU-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and multilateral cooperation within international forums, such as WTO and WHO, with respect to three key and timely themes: (1) trade & sustainable development; (2) migration & gender; and (3) multilateral governance & health. The Module is delivered as a blended (online and face-to-face) interactive course, embracing new learning technologies and communication methods in innovative online teaching. These activities are complemented by professional workshops, aimed at developing the practical skills of students. Module activities primarily target students of the University of Canberra (UC), with wider secondary target audiences including: policy makers at local and federal levels; civil society groups; working professionals and students who otherwise do not have access to EU studies. The Module embraces best practice online education pedagogies making it a market leader in the higher education sector. UC’s ranking within the top 10 universities in Australia (THE, 2021), and top 20 young universities in the world (The YUR, 2020), is testament to its ability to deliver high quality online education. UC’s ranking as number 1 in the world for reducing inequalities (THE, 2021) affirms its commitment to meeting global challenges around sustainability, human rights and governance. The Module brings together a genuine international team of experts acquainted with interdisciplinary methods and knowledge on the EU and Australia, and demonstrated expertise in online teaching. For the first time, University of Canberra students will get introduced to an EU perspective on topics of global significance, which have important and practical policy application in Australia. |
