The project aimed to supply green hydrogen to local miners and was initially set to be operated by BP, which took a 63% stake in 2022. However, BP has decided to exit the project as operator and shareholder, reflecting a strategic shift to focus on upstream oil and gas and disciplined investment in the energy transition. Intercontinental Energy (ICE) will take over as operator and continue development of the project. |
