Australian Standards for AI Data Centres

planned

The Australian Government has announced mandatory national laws requiring AI data centres to fund their own power and water supplies to control environmental impact and protect local resources. The legislation will enforce strict accountability on large data centre operators to underwrite their own power supply, implement water minimization protocols, and verify compliance through a fast-tracked approval process managed by the new Office of AI.
