Australia's National Broadband Network (NBN)

operational with ongoing challenges

The NBN is a government-owned telecommunications network in Australia, initially conceived as a nation-building project to provide fixed-line broadband infrastructure. It was later reconfigured into a hybrid model combining copper and fibre technologies. The project has faced financial losses, competition from wireless and satellite alternatives, and challenges in maintaining its commercial viability.
