Construction will start in early 2018 with the project expected to create more than 6,000 jobs. The project aims to slash congestion along the M1 from Pakenham to Geelong, giving drivers a vital alternative to the West Gate Bridge. More than 110,000 tonnes of steel will be used to build the two underground tunnels, bridges, and other infrastructure, with 92% of it being Australian steel. The project will use 93% local content, creating thousands of local jobs across various sectors. |
