Automated 5G Vehicle Logistics Collaboration

Deutsche Telekom and Unikie are partnering to scale the automated vehicle logistics chain, building on their successful collaboration on the Volkswagen AutoLog project in Emden. The project aims to automate processes at automotive terminals and expand to industrial use cases such as vehicle production, logistics, bus and tram depots, parcel and last-mile depots, and special vehicles at harbors and forestry. Vehicles connect to Telekom's 5G network using SIM cards and communicate with the Unikie Marshalling Solution (UMS), which uses LiDAR sensors for accurate and safe automatic vehicle control. Telekom operates the UMS in an edge cloud to ensure low latency and fast communication, enabling Europe-wide scaling via the 8ra project.
