Description
Description | The AIMSS payload, developed by Los Alamos National Laboratory, is a mass spectrometer designed to make ion mass composition observations in low Earth orbit. It supports national space security and scientific discovery by distinguishing between natural space phenomena and spacecraft-generated contamination. The payload features a robust design for reduced cost, rapid build and integration, high-mass resolution, and real-time alerts. It was launched as part of the Department of Defense’s Space Test Program Houston-11 mission onboard SpaceX’s 34th Dragon Commercial Resupply Services mission. |
