The AwareEU (AwareEU Achieve Wide Awareness of EU REsults) project’s general objective is the production and dissemination of contents and analysis of information related to the impact of Cohesion policy in Italy and the Italian Recovery Plan, which are strictly connected in terms of objectives and outcomes in the long run, and their effects on the life of citizens. The developed content will inform citizenry and civil society organizations about the objectives, the functioning and practical results of Cohesion policies and related funds, contributing to reducing the gap existing between European institution and citizenry. Specific case studies will dig into Italian projects funded by 2014-2020 Cohesion funds and their impact and will aim at promoting an approach to the production, dissemination and reading of data and information related to the use of EU funds and the effects on citizens life. They will be told by journalists starting from technical data available on the Monithon platform as collected by citizens themselves through civic monitoring activities. Under the supervision and coaching of info.nodes, young journalists will exploit data journalism and storytelling methods to develop and adapt that content for the large public. Data will speak further also through onData experience in infographics and data visualisation. The communication approach from citizens who collected data to citizens who will read and listen their stories will be further developed also through a podcast which will be led by ActionAid IT, exploiting its experience in large public communication which is centred around people and their stories of change.
