 Axtel S.A.B. de C.V. (the Company or Axtel) is a Mexican company that provides a wide range of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions through its two business brands: Axtel Networks (Infrastructure Unit) and Alestra (Services Unit). IFC’s proposed financing entails a US$[60] million debt financing package to repay a bank term facility maturing in 2024, strengthen the Company’s cash balance position, and invest in new Capex. Axtel’s existing infrastructure includes a 48,800 km fiber optic network, of which, 51% is metropolitan and the remainder is long-distance (i.e., connecting metropolitan areas). Metropolitan fiber is typically mounted on third-party utility poles (aerial), while long-distance lines are largely buried. The long-distance network follows the right of way of existing linear infrastructure such as roads. Leveraging its network, Axtel serves 72 Mexican cities with ethernet data services, provides connectivity to the main data centers in Queretaro, and provides fiber connectivity to the tower (FTTT), among other services. In 2022, the Company deployed around 1,500 km of metropolitan network nationwide.
