Description | Akenerji Elektrik Uterim A.S. [Turkey], a member of the Akkok Group, developed the 15MW Ayyildiz Wind Farm, near Bandirma in western Turkey. The project was developed on a greenfield, build own and operate (BOO) basis, and was awarded through a license scheme. Electricity generated by the wind farm was to be delivered to the Turkish national grid on a priority offtake basis. Financial closure was reached in August 2009, when it was reported that the sponsor had finalized a EUR19.5 million (US$27.11 million) 10-year term loan from HSBC Bank. The loan was guaranteed by Danish export credit agency EKF, and was linked to the supply of Vestas [Denmark] wind turbines. The total project cost was EUR22.9 million (US$31.83 million), with the balance (EUR3.4million / US$4.7 million) funded by the sponsor’s equity contribution. In September 2009, it was reported that the wind farm was operational. |
