Baba Jaga Europe 24/25 is an international festival dedicated to visual storytelling. At the heart of its action is the discovery and the promotion of the Eastern European art scene, as well as its connections, influences and ties with the rest of Europe. The main expressive forms in BJE2425 are comics and illustration, in particular those formal devices (such as graphic journalism and graphic memoirs) in which both individual stories of marginalization, inclusion, equality and diversity, and the history of places, cities and European nations, naturally converge. The BJE2425 project is an evolution of the Baba Jaga Fest, born in Italy in 2022 with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture. From that experience, an informal network of European organizations arose to promote visual storytelling as an instrument of dialogue between nations: that network is now the basis of BJE2425. The aim of BJE2425 is to exploit the ability of comics to unite two different artistic languages ​​(narrative art and visual art) in order to activate a transversal involvement of the European artistic community, encourage the exchange between artists, promote the development of innovative cultural productions and increase the translation and dissemination of comic works among European countries. Particular attention is paid to those countries which, despite a lively art scene, find less space for representation in the rest of Europe, including Ukraine. To achieve this, BJE2425 relies on an organic set of activities, concentrated in particular in the cities of Rome (Italy), Prague (Czechia) and Riga (Latvia), which includes a business market of b2b meetings between European publishers, an artistic residency program between Prague, Riga and Rome, numerous exhibitions - including two traveling exhibitions on European territory - workshops, educational laboratories, panels, an anthological publication of unpublished works and a widespread presence in European festivals.
