Description | Babban Gona is a Nigerian social enterprise that supports small farmers by providing seeds, fertilizers and training. The harvests are bought from the farmers, professionally stored and sold at a later date at higher prices. The farmers receive a share of these higher sales prices. The German share in Babban Gona remains with the company and will be transferred to the small farmers and employees after the end of the project period so that they can share in the company's success. Babban Gona is aiming to expand to Nigeria, Ethiopia, Kenya and Ghana in order to use its successful model to create additional income for small farmers, jobs for women and improved food security in these countries too. The project is financed by the BMZ special initiative One World - No Hunger. |
