BAC Films has sold THE MAN WHO SOLD HIS SKIN in around 15 European territories, 11 of them being included in the grouping. THE MAN WHO SOLD HIS SKIN is a European coproduction between 5 countries: France, Belgium, Germany, Sweden and Tunisia. It is the story of Sam Ali, a young sensitive and impulsive Syrian, who left his country for Lebanon to escape the war. To be able to travel to Europe and live with the love of his life, he accepts to have his back tattooed by one of by the World’s most sulfurous contemporary artist. Turning his own body into a prestigious piece of art, Sam will however come to realize that his decision might actually mean anything but freedom. The film is Kaouther Ben Hania’s second feature, after BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, that was presented in Cannes' Un Certain Regard in 2017. It world premiered at Venice International Film Festival, in September 2020, in the Orizzonti section, where Yahya Mahayni was awarded for his performance as best actor. The film was then nominated for the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Feature category. The film is a prestigious arthouse title, but also has a strong commercial potential due to its entertaining story. The distributors included in the grouping are all very serious companies, with a great experience in the distribution of European titles. They have all been our partners for a long time.
